for all the hype the coverage of the event on this site is really poor. hardly any video, rubbish images and you can’t even play back the races after they have run ( like you could last year). I have emailed the link for the site to a lot of people in the uk and have a stream of texts saying “where is all this great stuff we are supposed to be looking at?”
People who can”t participate to this event really appreciate the live coverage and comments by Pip Pearson, twitter news feeds , and photo galeries (including Ian Mitchell’s capsize yesterday !!)
Not a single press release written and sent to media – how is the sailing world going to know about this event? How do non-505 sailors even know it’s on?
Dear Di, we are distributing international press releases daily, to more than 900 international contacts, BoatingOz is on this list, so obviously I am a bit concerned if you do not receive these. I will send you a personal mail on the adress we have registred so we can sort this out immediately.
kind regards

Dear Followers,
Thank you for your comments! We’ve updated the navigation bar to make video and photos more accessible. For post race highlights, interviews and archived race coverage, please click on the “Post Races” button, select the race you’d like to review and choose the media asset of your preference. Stay tuned in for today’s coverage of Races 4 and 5! Sail on!
I see that boat tracking in each race is advertised, but where is it on the site? Under the “Live Races” Link there is the video stream but the Tracker option on the left hand side of the screen doesn’t seem to do anything.
Enjoying the coverage and commentary. Disappointed, however, that the camera appears unable to zoom in on the competitors so that viewers can get close-up shots of skipper/crew work. The camera RIB has to stay well away from the competitors to avoid affecting them with wake and this means that almost all shots are long-distance.
Further to my grumpy husbands comments yesturday – the site is much improved today and I can now find all the videos easiliy – but I still cant find the video if Ian capsize which everyone is talking about……
My husband is very keen for me to watch the webcam on his boat (he wants to keep me involved since he’s out sailing and leaving me at home to look after the kid). How will I know which camera is his, and when do you think that this facility will be up and running?
Very much agree with you Ian… where is the coverage beyond 2nd place … 1 camera is poor… and the poor old commentator doesn’t seem to know what is going on either
Thanks folks, I have followed you all from the start and have noticed an improvement as we go to each bran nue dae. Can someone feed Pip some new info each day to keep his great commentary rivitting enough to help us Aussies past the midnight hour. Thanks guys, Crazy
bad luck Mike, well done Ians! Guys I am already converted ( and a bit sozzledas it is after mid night) to the cause but if we could all get a few more people checking this site out and convert some into local club racers, THEN we are talking!!! Just rang Robbo and he was sleeping???? Bring onHamiltonIsland!! And remember you only live once! Crazy!!!
Pip – You are right, we are watching and listening in from London. Our 3 year old, Olivia, was very excited to hear her name and the fact that you think she’s gorgeous! Shame that Daddy dropped 7 places after that! Long day today for racers, committee and media teams. Good work.
Well a very big Thank You to all at SAP and all the associated helpers for bringing this event into our loungerooms, even if it kept us Aussies up all night. Congratulations to all the winners but especially those who acheived their own targets. Bring on Hamilton Island. See ya there Pip! Crazy

I feel that the coverage is well worth watching, hopefully, other classes will see the light!

There was talk in the pre-race hype about cameras on board some of the boats. Is that video available anywhere?

I noticed that on the scoreboard is a “DPI” befor some of the scores what does it mean?

Link for Post Races Day 3 gives:
Apologies, but no results were found for the requested archive.
it seems Bambuser channels 01 to 09 haven’t broadcasted any sailing images since the beginning of the 505 worlds
Anyway, the tractrac device and live footage are really interesting.
Highlights are brilliant, especially Days 1 & 2, but, gosh, it looks cold. I’m loving Pip’s commentaries and his interviews too.
like the site much better now – video highlights very good

Mighty coverage Pip, the Murray Walker of 505 sailing, complete with expletives! – Keep up the good work.
loved the video today about all the dads and daughters sailing x x x
The data I am missing are live reports of the wind speed and direction. I can only pick up occasional data if a tweet posts it.
Check out the live video stream on bambuser.com, channel glance10 to glance14 http://bit.ly/aIkOjD
@ Barry: Best link I can give you for that right now is: http://www.dmi.dk/dmi/index/danmark/borgervejr.htm?param=wind&map=undefined&dmiobs=true&bvobs=true
And try to find Hårup Århus N and click on it …
love the coverage for us guys stuck at home and working it realy helps

Only one rib trying to film and cover the races looked like a loosing battle, but we watched anyway. Trac Trac was blank.
